Ramblings

I read Mark 6 this morning, the part when Jesus sends out his followers 2 X 2 and they proclaim that all should repent and they didn't bring food or even a change of clothes. It's interesting, but I'm still contemplating the significance of the whole thing.

The Bears won yesterday, destroying the Detriot Lions, but the Lions are terrible, so it's hard to feel as good about that victory as say, the win over Philly last week. But, Kyle Orton had a really good day, and even if it was against a bad team, Grossman would have fumbled 3 times and thrown 2 int's.

The White Sox won yesterday as well, now they face a must win today to force a game 5 and send it back to Tampa Bay. I like their chances today at home with Floyd pitching - I'm more worried about what could happen Wednesday.

What I saw this past week:
Heroes - it's good again like season 1 - not crap like season 2. I really liked the first couple episodes - I love (as always) the Hiro storyline and think that his new "nemesis" is fantastic. I'm (as always) indifferent to Peter, Claire and Parkman. And I am wonderfully excited that they killed Ali Larter's character and made her a completely different character (hopefully no more episodes with her irritating son!)

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles - it's a fun show. Not overly amazing, but I like the mom (the queen from 300) and I've always been a Summer Glau fan (River from Firefly). I don't really like the guy playing John - and I am surprisingly happy about Brian Austin Green. Last Monday's episode was the best ever.

NCIS: Par for the course with NCIS.

The Mentalist - a new show, I like it - it is like a serious version of Psych (one of my favorite shows). If you haven't seen ths show - give it a watch this Tuesday (provided of course that it's on and not some senate debate).

Pushing Daisies: They didn't resolve the end of last season, and moved forward like it never happened - this is a problem for me. But it's pretty to watch in HD.

The Ex List - I made it to the second commercial break, then deleted it - this show was awful, terrible, horrible, boring, really bad. Don't give it a watch. There is a reason it premiered on a Friday Night.

The Unit - amazing. Sunday nights 10 PM Eastern/Pacific 9 PM Central/Mountain. Watch it!

I'm currently reading: Night Probe by Clive Cussler (I had the book and Cussler is always a fun read). Velvet Elvis by Rob Bell (starting it today).

Fringe

I watched Fox's new show "Fringe" last night and I loved it! Fringe is written and produced by JJ Abrams (Lost) and it deffinately has a bit of a "Lost" flavor to it, not a stuck on an island with smoke monsters and polar bears, but the sense that there is going to be a very large, over arching plot line running throughout the series. However, it will have a bit of an "X-Files" flavor as they track down cases that fall into the "fringe sceience" catagory (that is where the series takes it's name - "fringe" science, like invisibility, reanimation, teleportation, etc.)
Anyhow, I liked the casting decisions - Anna Torv was good as the main female character. I actually liked the Joshua Jackson decision (which surprised me) but he really did pretty good, and while I just think he was doing a George Clooney impression the whole time, it worked and is a long way from "The Mighty Ducks" and "Dawsons Creek."

Some Random Thoughts

Today is Amy's birthday. I am so blessed to have her in my life - she is the greatest wife I could possibly have, and she is such a wonderful mother to our little girls. Happy birthday Amy! Thanks for blessing the Colorado Bruners!

I have directv, I've had directv for a long time and one thing that has always irritated me a little bit is the 2 second lag behind cable or over the air tv. Normally I don't notice this, so life goes on - but last night I was trying to watch the Broncos vs. Raiders MNF game and the next door neighbor was screaming at every play - only he was screaming about 1.5 seconds before I got to see the play, so I always knew if it was going to be good or bad for the Broncos. This kind of takes the fun out of live sporting events - even worse than watching a movie with someone who has to pre-quote every line.

TV shows on tap for this week:
I recorded True Blood an HBO cajun vampire series, but I haven't watched it yet. I'll view it at some point and give it a minimalist review.
I recorded the season premier of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles - but again haven't watched it yet (I watched football). But I really enjoyed last year's first season of the show. One comical note - the people doing this series are the ones who did Terminator 3 (an underated movie that is entertaining, though not "good") and in this series, they just pretend that the 3rd movie never happened.
Amy and I watched the Closer - I like this show pretty well.
Tonight I'm recording Fringe a new show on Fox that looks like it could be a successor to the X-Files.
If you haven't seen the USA show Psych - watch it, it might be one of the funniest shows on TV (the Office also taking the comedy cake).
I haven't been to a movie theater in 9 months. kids.
